Dick D. Casto was born February 21, 1936, the youngest of three sons born to Holly D. and Frances Karr Casto in their home on 7th Street in Ripley.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two brothers, Jeems E. “Jim” Casto and William E. “Bill” Casto.
He attended Ripley Elementary and Ripley High School where he was a member of the graduating class of 1953. He married Helen I. Casto on October 10, 1954 and they had three children they raised in Ripley. Dick worked as a Banker, Real Estate Sales and Broker, Office Supervisor at Kaiser Aluminum and served as a Jackson County Commissioner for 12 years. Over the years he was very active in several local and civic organizations including the Ripley Jaycees, Ripley Masonic Lodge, Ripley Elementary and Ripley High School PTA, Jaycees Toys for Tots Campaign along with other local activities. Dick was a man of God and was saved at the age of 12 at the Ripley Tabernacle Church. Dick was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church where he began attending in 1952 and was a member of the Choir. He was very proud of his community and especially his large family, and he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen Harpold Casto; his children, Kimberly (Randy) Herron, Kevin (Paula) Casto and Kerry (Jackie) Casto; his grandchildren, Shane (Rachel) Casto and their children, Jadyn, Bryson, and Kamryn, Scottie (Kelsea) Casto and their children Payton,(Ethan), Zoe and Brody, Kelsey Casto and children Ace and Emersyn, Holly (Ryan) Fell and their children Maci and Maddox, Tony (Stephanie) Casto and their children Kaylin and Jaylee, Karli (Hunter) Toothman and daughter Colbie; and two great-great grandchildren, Cooper and Brynlee Weekley.
Dick was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Jazmin Lee Casto.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley with Rev. Dr. Ford Price officiating. Burial will be in the Otterbein Cemetery, Evans, WV. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 am until the time of service at the Epworth United Methodist Church.
