Don Gordon Pursley, 86, of Sandyville went on to his Heavenly home on April 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Don was born in Leroy, WV on Feburary 29, 1936 the son of the late Glen and Dena McVay Pursley. He retired after 40 years at Ravenswood Aluminum where he always said he enjoyed working with his friends. Don was a member of the Independence United Methodist Church at Sandyville. He graduated from Gilmore High School where he was active in basketball, baseball and FFA and was chosen Mr. Gilmore. He enjoyed a lifetime of farming, raising cattle, horses and many different exotic animals. Don is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nina (Sheppard) Pursley; children Terri Snyder (Andrew), Greg Pursley (Dreama), Lisa Wolfe (Wayne), Lori Nichols (Mike), Joe Pursley (Renea) and James Pursley (Nikki); grandchildren Lindsey, Jonathan (Misty), Kiley (Brent), Kelsey (Jacob), Andrea, Brittany (Golibe), Carlie (Salathiel), Levi, Haley, Paige, Owen, Lucas, Seth, Peyton and Livia; great-grandchildren Bailey, Maddi, Paisley, Tinley, Dusti, Quinn, Amari, Shiloh and Florence and a great-great-grandson Jackson; sister Jerri Greathouse (Jerry); sister-in-law Norma Pursley and Kay Pursley; brother-in-law Harlan Sheppard (Thelma). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents Don was preceded in death by brothers Delmar, Dale and Jack and a sister, Deloris. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m Friday, April 22nd at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Gene Sheppard and Donzel Murray officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.
