Donald Ray Cavender 78 of Ripley passed away August 4, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston following a long illness. He was born July 29, 1937 in Kanawha County, son of Nomi Sampson Cavender of Charleston and the late Andrew Cavender. He retired from Cedar Lake Conference Center as the Maintenance Supervisor with 26 years of Service. He enjoyed gardening. In addition to his mother Naomi Cavender, he is survived sons Allen Cavender of Ravenswood and Gary Cavender of Charleston; daughter Deborah Brunty of Rupert; brothers Gene Cavender of Elkview and James Cavender of Kenna; sister Ruby Newhouse; also survived by 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Charlotte Cavender, brother Billy Hershel Cavender, sister Hilda Cooper and a great grandchild Kaitlyn Brunty. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Gary Ditoto officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
