Dorma Skinner

Dorma Lea Skinner, 79, of Gay passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on December 29, 2024. She went home to be with the Lord.

Dorma was born on January 20, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Anita (Parrish) and Oren Evans.

Dorma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Aunt, sister, daughter, and friend. She attended Ripley High school and late on received her GED.

She was active in her community. She was a member of The Lakeview Baptist Church. Over the years, she taught children classes and Vacation Bible School. She was in church plays and sang songs in the church with her husband.

She was a caregiver to her mother for years. She also helped other members of the community when they had health issues. She cared deeply for people and was always there to lend a helping hand. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Ladies Group. Dorma was survived by her husband Howard Skinner of Gay. Daughter Sonia Raines of Ripley. Granddaughter Kayla Raines Poling of Dunbar. Great Granddaughter Lydia Casto of Dunbar.

Brother Jack Kerns (Sharon) of Greenville, OH. Sister Linda Jones of Lancaster, OH. Sister Kathy Owens (Carey) of Cabins, WV. She was also survived by her precious dog Rocky.

Dorma was proceeded in death by her Son Richard Skinner. Son-in-law Chuck Raines. Parents Anita and Oren Evans. Her siblings Betty Kerns, Fredrick Kerns, Donald Kerns, William Darrell Kerns, John Keith Kerns, Debbie Wilson; nephew, J.D. Kerns; Brother-in-laws Dave Wilson, John Jones and Elmer Rhodes. Sister-in-law Patsy Kerns. Mother-in-law Ruth Skinner, Father-in-law Raymond Skinner. She will truly be missed by anyone whose life she has touched. She was so special to so many.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 2nd at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Bill Holley officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
