Dorothy Pearl Backus

Dorothy Pearl Backus 92 of Ripley passed away June 29, 2012 at Eldercare of WV at Ripley following a long illness. She was born June 16, 1920 at Boone County, a daughter of the late James and Lessie Aliff Toler. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jennings David Backus; a son James "Jackie" Backus; sisters Daisy Nichols, Dora Lee Toler and Delphia Williams and a brother Donald R. Toler. She is survived by a daughter Dorothy P. Williams and her husband Ray of Ripley; sons Jennings David Backus Jr. and his wife Vicki of Tullahoma, TN and James H. Backus of North Carolina; also survived by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Mike Elder and Darrell Crouch officiating.
