Dorothy Taylor McCloud, 97, died December 20, 2016 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton, Ohio. Born Dorothy Viola Braun, December 13, 1919, to Ernest and Anna Braun in Gorham, South Dakota. She married Harvey Taylor, January 28, 1939, in Huron, South Dakota. They lived in Salem, South Dakota for many years before moving to Ripley, West Virginia in 1966. Dorothy and Harvey were avid square dancers and bowlers. Dorothy liked working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed cards and dice games. She married Ira Velt McCloud, April 4, 1987, in Mt. Jackson, Virginia. She was a long time member of Epworth United Methodist Church, the ????? Circle, Golden Rule Sunday School Class, and the Muffins and More group. She was a faithful member of Jackson County Senior Center. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Myrtle Nash of Rich Hill, Missouri, Nora Dornbusch of Portland, Oregon, Ruby Wills of Alloy, West Virginia, and both husbands. She is survived by; her sons Eugene (Georgia) of Wooster, Ohio, James (Ruth) of Paxinos, Pennsylvania and her daughter Sharon Howell of Roswell, New Mexico, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Also she is survived by one niece, Mavis Heitzenrater, of Portland, Oregon. Viewing will be Tuesday, December 27 from 6 pm to 8pm at the Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, West Virginia. The funeral will be December 28 at 2 pm at Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley, Rev. Ford Price having the service.
