Dorsey E. Watson

Dorsey Eugene Watson, 84, of Ripley passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Jackson General Hospital.

Dorsey was born September 30, 1940 in Roane County to the late Delbert and Isabelle (Davis) Watson. Dorsey was a hard worker who was always staying busy on the farm, which was his passion. He would retire from the finishing department at Century Aluminum where he had 35 years of service. He also enjoyed hunting and woodworking. He had a deep loved for his church, Mercy Baptist Church, which he was a charter member and assistant treasurer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Martha (Fitzpatrick) Watson; children Richard Watson, Sheila Scarberry (Michael) and Michael Watson (Terri); sister Mildred Hickman; grandchildren Adam Watson, Shelly Metz, Stephanie Justice, Caylee Jo Czapp, Lexis Czapp, Dylan Czapp and Mika Watson and great-grandchildren Elly Jo Justice, Kayden Justice, Rayanna Jo Alfonso, Bella Metz, Reese Metz, Presley Metz and Emmy Metz.

In addition to his parents, Dorsey was preceded in death by sisters Iris June Conley and Dorothy Ann Murry and an infant sister, Ella Faye Watson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff and Dr. Mills at Jackson General Hospital for the care and compassion showed to Dorsey and his family.

Funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, November 9th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Bradley Goodwin and Kevin McClung officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery, Roane County. Following the burial the family will be having a meal at the Mercy Baptist Church, 1467 Evansview Rd., Evans, WV 25241.
