On January 1, 2026, Darlena Gail Landis, better known as Dottie, went home to be with her Lord and savior. Dottie was 76 years old and a resident of Given, West Virginia. She past after short illness at the Hubbard House in Charleston, WV.
Dottie was born to Wallace and Loraine (Barnette) Stover, one of eight children. Dottie was a graduate of Ripley High School Class of 1967. She then went to Jr. College and then went to work at Kaiser Aluminum as a key punch operator on the computer system. She married Gary Kemp Landis and became a housewife and mother to 3 sons. In the late 1980’s Dottie also worked for HUD in section 8 housing for Gilmer, Jackson and Roane counties in West Virginia. She retired from there 2015. She enjoyed going to the beach and camping in the mountains of West Virginia. She was a lifelong member of Grasslick Baptist Church and held a profound love for the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Landis and brothers Charles and Steve Stover.
Dottie Landis is survived by her 3 sons and family, Brandon and Amy Landis, Clifton and Carissa Landis, and Jason and Ashley Landis. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Robert and Joyce Stover, Patty (Stover) Smith, Sandy (Stover) Bailey, James and Shockey Stover, Cathy (Stover) and Mike Rhodes. She also has two loving sister in law’s in Helen Stover and Linda Stover. Her grandchildren include Kelsey Edwards, Madyson Landis, Gage Landis, Reid Landis, Adrianna Dalton, and Ava Landis. Her great grandchildren are Blaire Edwards, Brigston Edwards, and Bodie Edwards. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 6th at the Grasslick Baptist Church, 178 Pleasant Valley Rd., Given, WV 25245 with Pastor Branden Deskins officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Goshen Cemetery, Kenna. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dottie’s memory to the Grasslick Baptist Church or the Hubbard Hospice House.
