Douglas Ray Cavender, 51, of Ripley went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2016, at his home. Doug was born on May 12, 1965 in Charleston, West Virginia. Doug attended Conquerors Christian School. He enjoyed his career as a truck driver for many years and was also a truck driving instructor at Franklin Career Center in Frazier's Bottom, WV. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Doug was well known for his sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He was dedicated to his family and proud to be "Madi's daddy". Doug is survived by his daughter, Madi Cavender and fiancé JW Casto of Ripley; his parents, Arnold and Onie Cavender of Evans; sister, Robin Cavender of Evans; nieces, Kaitlyn Hedrick of Evans and Krissy Cavender Evans of Charleston; great-nephews and great nieces, Vincent, Sophie, Molly and Michael, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss his kindness and laughter. Doug was preceded in death by his sister Sonja Jean Kremer. Funeral services will be at 3 pm on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Reverend Travis Asbury officiating. Friends may call on the family from 1-3 pm. Burial will be in Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty, WV.
