Doy Fay Cain

Doy F. Cain, 86, of Ripley, formerly of Nellis and Emmons, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Hubbard Hospice House following an extended illness. She was born August 2, 1928 in San Patricio, Texas, daughter of the late John Lee and Leola Belle Rogers Bussey. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Besides working for many years as a licensed practical nurse, Doy was dedicated to serving others over herself. Some of her efforts included collecting coats for distribution to impoverished Lakota Indians, teaching adult women to read and be self sufficient, and caring for countless children. In the late 1950's she organized a drive that resulted in polio vaccines for every child in Harlan County, Kentucky. Doy never charged for any of her humanitarian efforts. Doy enjoyed her family, quilting, gardening and writing poetry. Surviving: Sons, Billy Glen Andrews (Chuckie), Roger E. Cain (Betty), and Paul Cain; Daughters, Dorris Ann Cochran (Michael), and Kathleen Roush (Bob); Sister, Billie Jean Morris of Los Angeles, CA; Special friend, Judy Haddock; Twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Doy was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene "Gene" Cain, a son, John W. Cain, a grandson, Alexander Brannard, a sister, Dorthalea Rannefeld and a brother, Rogers Bussey. A graveside service celebrating the life of Doy Cain will be 2p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Indian Camp Cemetery near French Creek in Upshur County with Pastor Nancy Killingworth officiating.
