Dr. Ali H. Morad

Dr. Ali Haji Morad, 92 of Ripley, passed away on July 20, 2023 at Ravenswood Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

Dr. Morad was born June 10, 1931 in Tehran, Iran, son of the late Abbas Haji-Morad and Kobra Haji Hgha Morad. Dr. Morad was a well respected and loved Surgeon for over 50 years spending most of his career in Ripley and practicing at Jackson General Hospital. In a book written by Dr. Morad, he stated “he had two countries and fond memories of his youth in his native land, and a deep gratitude for his new country that had given him the opportunity to develop wonderful friendships.” He was a surgeon who placed a higher value on being a humane, caring person rather than power or money. He viewed his patients and co-workers as family and treated them with enduring love and respect and he always felt that they reciprocated the same. He left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten and Jackson General Hospital added to that legacy by naming its clinic “The Morad-Hughes Health Clinic.”

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Trout Morad; daughters, Kobie Morad Rasmussen of Atlanta, GA and Dr. Shirin Morad of Ripley; grandchildren Faith Rasmussen, Kylie Morad and Eli Morad.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Ali Morad.

Funeral Service will be 4:00pm Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley with Rev. Dr. Ford Price officiating along with the Islamic Association of West Virginia offering prayers. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call on the family from 2:00 pm until the time of the service on Sunday at the church. Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley is serving the family.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Dr. Morad got to Epworth United Methodist Church, 299 Church St N, Ripley, WV 25271, or the Islamic Association of West Virginia, 1 Valley Dr, South Charleston, WV 25303 or Healing Hearts Equine Rescue and Farm.
