Dwight Aaron Garnes, 69 of Cottageville, passed away March 1, 2023 at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston, following an extended illness.

He was born March 16, 1953 in Cabin Creek, son of the late Ashford and Aveo Lynkus Garnes. Dwight was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Kanawha County Board of Education and a member of the Operating Engineers Local #132. He was a member of the United in Christ Church in Cottageville, a member of the Cottageville Masonic Lodge #54, a Shriner and was a Master Plumber

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Myers Garnes and they have been together for 28 years; sons James McCallister and Brian (Brittany) McCallister; granddaughter Elizabeth Shafer; brother Larry McDonnie and sister Denise McDonnie. He is also survived by a lifelong friend from childhood, Charles Gaunch.

His wishes for cremation is being honored and a Celebration of his Life service will be held at the United in Christ Church, Cottageville at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in memory of Dwight be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607
