Eathel Wilson Southall, Jr. 73 of Cottageville, passed away suddenly on November 2, 2025.
He was born November 27, 1951 in Ripley, son of the late Eathel W. Southall Sr. and Helen Emerson Southall. He was a 1969 graduate of Ripley High School and Retired from the US Army with over 21 years of service. Eathel enjoyed cooking and following his time in the military he served as a cook at the University of Charleston, and Ponderosa in Ripley. He was very proud of his service to his country and helped and participated in the Veterans Day Parade held annually in Ripley. He enjoyed collecting guns and also worked for Dr. John Snyder in Ripley.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marion Southall; his children, Cindy Bryant (Anthony) and Richard Southall; brothers, Jerry Southall (Janice) and Blaine Southall (Anna); grandchildren, Anthony Brown (Kylie) and Olivia Southall; great grandchildren, Silas Brown and Boston Brown.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Lanita Southall Vicars and a great grandson, Cason Bryce Brown.
Funeral Service will be held 7:00 pm Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Ben Riggleman officiating. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 pm until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Committal Service with Military Rites will be in the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veteran Cemetery, Dunbar on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
