Edward Milan

August 30, 1925 — September 4, 2021

Edward R. Milan, 96, went to his Heavenly Home is now sitting with Jesus on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at his home following a long illness. He was born August 30, 1925 at Uniontown, PA a son of the late Benjamin and Clara Varndell Milan. Ed had a very strong work ethic from a young age he quit school at an early age to begin working. He would then go on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran. His military journey started in 1943 when he enlisted at Clarksburg, WV. From there he went to Camp Perry, VA. Following that he made stops in Rhode Island and San Francisco. Following his stop in San Francisco he then went abroad being stationed in New Guinea, the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan and then Shanghai, China. In 1946 he journeyed back home to be with his mother who was in failing health. He said he traveled home by boat, cars, planes, trains and a lot of walking! Following his military service he worked at Kaiser Aluminum where he would later retire after many years of service. He was a very skilled craftsman with many talents including making furniture. One of his biggest feats was constructing his home from the ground up. Ed is survived by his children Oren Edward Milan (Susan), Wanda Joanne Blinn, Linda Sue Berry, Miles Blaine Milan (Donna), Debra Kay Dougherty, Sherman Keith Milan (Belinda), Norma Jean Carney (Greg), Samuel Wesley Milan (Dinah) and Hayden Jay Milan(Linda); sister Gertrude Barr (Ervin). He was also blessed with over 50 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren In addition to his parents Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Louise Milan, as well as siblings Benjamin Milan, Cora Mae Jeffries, Mabel Ury, Grace Kisko, Joe Milan, Noah Milan, George Milan, Annie Milan and Charlie Milan. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville with Preston Milan officiating, and Military Rites rendered by the Jackson County Honor Guard. There will be a time of visitation at Waybright Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 12-2 p.m. At 2 p.m. a procession will be leaving the funeral home to head to the cemetery. in an effort to keep everyone safe the family asks that if you have been exposed to COVID-19 to please follow all protocols to limit any possible exposure.
