Emma Mae Murrey

Emma Mae (Walters) Murrey, 92, of Sandyville passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Lee County Care and Rehabilitation in Beattyville, KY.

Emma was born May 22, 1931 in Ripley a daughter of the late R.F. and Mattie (Combs) Walters. In addition to her parents Emma was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Bruce “Doc” Murrey Sr., daughter Susan Hees and 7 brothers and sisters.

Emma was a talented seamstress who enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was a very active member of the Lockhart Church.

She is survived by her son Bruce E. Murrey Jr. (Cheri); daughter Bernice Greer (Patrick); brothers Wynne Walters of Sandyville, William Walters of Ravenswood, Charles Lee Walters of Holly Hills, SC; sister Brenda Salisbury of Gallipolis, OH; grandchildren Shauna Murrey, Megan Murrey, Emily McHone (Ian) and Julie Alderez and great-grandchildren Henry McHone, Willa McHone and Liam Alderez.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m Friday, December 8th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Ken Krimmel officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
