Eric Grandon

Eric Lee Grandon, 60 of Ovapa, WV passed away on April 23, 2026. He was born on April 16, 1966, to the late Ronald and Charlotte Grandon.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Mary Grandon; daughter, Abigail Grandon; his brothers, Scott (Lisa) Grandon of Eleanor, WV, Bill (Diane) Grandon of Gay, WV, and Sean (Cindy) Grandon of Statts Mills, WV; sister, Lora (Reece) Cremeans of Gay, WV; brother-in-laws, James Quinn, David Quinn, Keith Quinn, Charles Quinn, Chris Quinn, and Larry Cook; sister-in-laws, Ruth (Doug) Kemp and Alice (Mickey) Gesalak; mother-in-law, Nina Cook; step mother-in-law, Ann Quinn; and a “bushel” of nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends. Last but not least, his precious therapy dog, Rufus, and Ella who was always there to fill Rufus’s spot.

Eric was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army during The Gulf War and The Iraq War. He retired as a Staff Sergeant with 20 years and 5 days of service, but it wasn’t without hardship. Upon returning home from deployment, he discovered beekeeping to put him at ease and calm his mind. He became a first-generation farmer and owns Sugar Bottom Farms, where he and his family sold honey nationwide. He is also a certified instructor and played an instrumental role in developing the WV Department of Ag’s Veterans and Warriors to Agriculture Program. He has taught over 700 new beekeepers the secrets of the trade. He and his wife Mary received the award for conservation farm of the year and take great pride in what they do. Eric will be remembered for his hard work and the time he enjoyed spending with family.

A Funeral service will be held at Waybright funeral home on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 7p.m. with visitation from 6p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at a late date in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
