On January 7, 2026, Erin Nikole Barber went home to be with the Lord. Erin was 36 years old and a resident of Parkersburg. She passed after a short illness at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Erins was the daughter of Myhaulina and Tommy Workman of Sandyville and Jay Barber of Evans.
Erin was a 2008 graduate of Heritage Christian Academy. She was also a graduate o of Mid Atlantic Christian University in Elizabeth City, NC and West Virginia State University in Institute.
Erin was employed for the State of West Virginia Department of Human Services as a child protective service worker in Wood County. Erin loved children and wanted them to be safe and happy. Erin attended the Drift Run Church in Sandyville.
In addition to her parents, Erin is survived by her brother, Benjamin Barber (Brittney) of Evans, nephew Ezekiel John Barber and niece Ellianna Joy Barber of Evans; aunts and uncles Charlotte Cogar (Jerry) of St. Albans, Cheryl Davis of Letart, Lucille Carney of Fairplain, Cecil Shamblin of St. Albans, Randal Workman (Ruth Ann) of Dixie, Sheila Sears of Dixie, Calvin Workman (Peachy) of Bentree, Earnest Workman (Trudy) of Hico, Neal Workman (Charlotte) of North Carolina, Robin Workman of North Carolina. Erin is also survived by her faithful companion and support dog, Buddy. She is also survived by many cousins and extended family.
Erin was preceded in death by grandparents Homer and Betty Davis of Sandyville, John and Kathleen Barber of Evans and Eugene and Bernice Workman of Dixie; Aunts and Uncles Daisy and Dave Shrewsberry, Danny Sears, Charlotte Facemire, Bradford Workman, David Workman, Jim Carney, Brenda and Gary Cox and Carlotta Shamblin
In honoring Erin’s wishes she will be cremated with a celebration of life taking place 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 17th at Drift Run Church, 31 Drift Run Rd., Sandyville, WV 25275, with Pastor Dave Long and Assistant Pastor Jamie Burton officiating. Also following Erin’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered in one of her favorite places, the New River Gorge in the spring
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Marietta Memorial Hospital staff, Wood County EMS, Parkersburg Fire Department, Parkersburg Police Department for all their efforts, care and comfort. In keeping with her giving and generous nature, Erin was also an organ donor and was able to donate through Lifeline of Ohio.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Erin’s memory to Drift Run Church Youth Ministries or an organization Erin was very passionate about, Autism Speaks. Donations for Autism Speaks can be made by visiting www.autismspeaks.org and clicking Donate in the top right corner.
