Evelene Richards Myers

Evelene Myers Evelene Richards Myers, 89, of Ripley, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2013 at Jackson General Hospital following an extended illness. She was born November 15, 1923 in Jackson County, daughter of the late Oscar and Leoda Randolph Myers. A lifelong homemaker, Evelene was not afraid of hard work, even cutting her own wood up until a few weeks prior to her death. Evelene was the last surviving member of her family, including five brothers and sisters that preceded her in death. Surviving: Sons, Oley Edward Myers of Ripley, Danny Harold Myers of Ohio, Bobby Hoyt Myers and Oris Myers, both of Ripley; Daughters, JoAnn Hughes of Ohio, Stella Lea Hammond of Ohio, Betty Lou Brown of Cottageville, Janet Geraldine Myers of Ripley, Thelma Marie Myers of Ripley and Rosetta Myers of Ripley; 30 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Evelene was preceded in death by her husband, Oley Hoyt Myers, a son, Clair Gene Myers of Ripley and daughters Freda Faye Miller of Ripley and Cathy Lynn Parsons of Ripley. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Private interment will take place at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Leroy.
