June 28, 1940 — February 9, 2015

Evelyn Jones, 74, of Charleston, WV passed away February 9, 2015 at her home after a courageous fight against cancer. Evelyn was born Ruby Evelyn Moss on June 28, 1940 in Sissonville, WV to the late William Delbert (Webb) and Mamie Ethel Hughart Moss. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Marty Ray Painter, stepdaughter, Trilla Ann Wilkinson, and sisters Delores Comer, Garnet Wright, Emma Lee Reed and brother Kenneth Moss. She was a 1958 graduate of Sissonville High School, Capitol City Business College, and retired from Columbia Natural Resources/NiSource Inc. She was a born-again Christian and was a member of Fisher Memorial Church where she was a member of the choir and the Open Door Sunday School class. She also attended North Hills Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed classic Southern Gospel music, attending gospel sings, and services at other churches. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Monroe C. Jones; devoted daughter Kelly Dawn(Henry) Riffe of Charleston, WV and Stepson Rev. Aaron(Susan) Jones of Kenna, WV. Grandsons Andrew Riffe of Charleston, WV and Adam Ray Painter of Hurricane, WV. Step-grandaughter Jessica(Chip) Stricklen of Charleston, WV. Step-grandsons Jamison(Jamie) Wilkinson of Charleston, WV; Jeremey(Angela) Jones of Charleston, WV; Jonathan(Caitlin) Jones of Charleston, WV; Joshua and Jamin Jones of Kenna, WV. Stepgreat-grandchildren Alexis Stricklen, J.R. Stricklen, Brock Stricklen, Lilly Wilkinson, and Wylie Wilkinson. Stepson-in-law John(Sue) Wilkinson. Brother Gary(Lois) Moss of New Haven, CT. Sister Judy(Dee) Nelson of Sandyville, WV. Sister-in-law Ruby Marie Fogarty of St. Albans, WV. Brother-in-law Robert Comer of Charleston, WV. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held Sunday February 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Fisher Memorial Church in Goldtown, WV with Aaron Jones and Mike Harper officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Palliative Care, Hospice, and Hospice Crisis Care.
