Evelyn Jean Parsons

Evelyn Jean Parsons, 83, of Ripley passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Evelyn was born July 21, 1940 in Sissonville a daughter of the late Denver Glenn and Dorothy Mae (Jones) Burdette. Evelyn’s door was always open and loved a house full of people and loved cooking for anyone that would show up. She was a woman of many talents, she was an accomplished seamstress who made many outfits and quilts. She also enjoyed working in the garden. Most of all she loved worshiping at Lakeview Baptist Church and had a voice for the Lord with the group Gospel Messengers.

Evelyn is survived by her children Michael Parsons (Dora), Darrell Allen “Smoke” Parsons (Rhonda), Teresa Williams, Virginia Christine Parsons, William David Parsons (Peggy) and Brenda Bess (Keith “Lenny”); sisters Beatrice Gilbert and Dareen Wines. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, William Dallas Parsons; son Billy Eugene Parsons and a grandson, Derrick Parsons and granddaughter Brittany Scaggs

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 9th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Bill Holley officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Parsons Cemetery, Gay.
