Everett O. Raines (King Fish), 85, of Ripley, WV, passed away March 20, 2016, at home, surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was born May 20, 1930, in Ripley, a son of the late George Harrison and Emma Jane (Redman) Raines. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Sarah Harmon, sisters Ivy Waybright, Marie Stutler, Midge Lange, and brothers Richard, Austin, and Otis; son Donald Raines; grandson Basil Rhodes, Jr. and great-grandsons Lincoln and Noah Casto. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharlyn M. Raines. Brother Cleo Raines; daughters Dorothy(Basil) Rhodes of Bluffton, IN, Nora(John) Casto of Portland, OH, Lois Ann(Gene) Casto of Portland, OH, Donna Stanley(Roger Stoffel) of Milwood, WV, and son James Everett(Joan) Raines of Seville, OH. Everett always held a special spot in his heart for his grandson Michael C. Morrow (Holli Adkins), who've been there to care for him every day. Everett was also proud of his 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great -grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Everett retired from Babcock and Wilcox as a boilermaker in Barberton, OH. He served for the Ripley City Police Department, owned Raines Taxi Service and Raines Logging in Ripley, and was a welder at the boat yard in Pt. Pleasant. After retiring Everett enjoyed attending trade days and gun shows, shooting matches, which he often won, hunting and fishing, he was also a real estate entrepreneur, and a member of the VFW. Funeral Service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Roger Cummings officiating. Friends may call on the family from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Following the burial there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Parsons-Vail Family Center located inside the funeral home.
