Filbert R. Fields, 81 of Statts Mill, passed away on August 10, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 18, 1937 in Statts Mill, WV, a son of the late Ova and Elva Fisher Fields. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 132 for 50 years. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers Local 14614 in St. Albans. Filbert loved Bluegrass music and running Heavy Equipment. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son in 1984, Ricky Fields, sisters Nancy Carney and Dottie Jean Fields and brother Holly Fields. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue Cunningham Fields; sons Mike (Charlotte) Fields of Ripley and Jeff (Tonya) Fields of Ripley; daughter Annetta (Cameron Hildreth) Fields of Ripley; brothers Romie Fields of Kentuck, Arnold Fields of Statts Mill and Charles Fields of Charleston; sisters Evalene Pauley of Ravenswood, Iva Walker of Ripley, Sharon Crihfield and Alta Crihfield both of Kentuck, Alma Cook of Apple Grove, OH and Thelma Mace of Cottageville; grandchildren, Shawn Fields, Ricky “Chipper” Fields, Hailey Fields, Casey Camp, Sommer Fields, Shane Fields and Abigail Hildreth; great grandchildren Carter Thacker, Sawyer Thacker, Skyler Thacker, Sadie Fields, Ryder Fields, Rhett Fields, Gavin Camp, Addison Camp and Kinley Fields. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will be in the Siniaville Cemetery, Statts Mill.
