Flavilla Pearson, 85, of Ripley, passed away Friday evening, September 26, 2014, at the Ravenswood Care Center following an extended illness. She was born June 15, 1929 near Goldtown, daughter of the late Talmadge and Clessie Harrison Monday. In addition to being a full-time homemaker, Flavilla worked as a receptionist for Dr. Donald King for many years and as a cook for the board of education. She was a Christian and a member of the Ripley Baptist Temple. Surviving: Daughters, Sharon Neal (David) of Gonzales, Louisiana, Jan Monroe (Tim) of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Nancy Robinson (Andrew) of Ripley; Grandchildren, David Neal Jr. (Katie) of Gonzales, Louisiana, Samantha Carroll (Cody) of New Orleans, Jenny Martin (Sean) of Chattanooga, Katie Atkins (Brandon) of Chattanooga, Nate and Anna Robinson, both of Ripley and two great-grandchildren on the way; Brother, Earl Monday of Ripley. In addition to her parents, Flavilla was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wesley Pearson and an infant brother, Wilson Lee Monday. A service celebrating the life of Flavilla Pearson will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Waybright Funeral Home with Pastor Herman Robinson officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Fairplain Cemetery.
