Franklin Frazier Adkins Sr. 78 of Sandyville passed away July 22, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital in Huntington following a long illness. He was born in Boone County on December 28, 1934 and graduated from Sherman High School where he played Baseball and Basketball. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum and Century Aluminum with 40 years of Service and loved farming. Frank was also instrumental in the formation of Ripley Little League baseball in the early 1970's. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Adkins; Brother Gerald Adkins and Sisters Teresa Lanham and Gwendolyn Vasello. He is survived by his son Frank Adkins Jr of Sandyville; daughter Connie Welling of Atlanta; sister Alice Alford of Poca; grandchildren Jennifer Goode, Zachary Adkins, Kristina Longfellow, Monica Carson and D.W. Welling and great grandchildren Cade and Jace Goode, Emily Goode, Mason and Braxton Adkins, Haley and Noah Carson, Makynzee and Madisyn Longfellow and Ashtun, Dale and Caitlin Welling. Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Jeff Keffer officiating. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call from 11 AM until time of service on Saturday. Donation in memory of Mr. Adkins may be made to the Jackson County Jr. Fair. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
