Freda Eleanor Wilson, 89, of Ripley, passed away Monday evening, April 21, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House following an extended illness. Freda was born December 15, 1924 in Roane County, daughter of the late Gay and Crystal Cook Wolfe. She was a graduate of Ripley High School and the Ohio Stenographic College. She began her career as a bookkeeper with Thomas and Wolfe Grocery prior to being hired as a deputy in the tax department. Freda retired as chief deputy in the tax department under sheriff's Charles "Chief" Coffman and Homer Fisher. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church but in later years attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley. In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Wilson, their only son, G. Lee Wilson, a grandson, Michael L. Wilson, brother Edwin G. Wolfe Jr. and sisters Betty Lou Wolfe Parsons and O. Jean Wolfe Thomas. Surviving: Granddaughters Sherry Wilson Bosworth (Craig) of Ripley and Dr. Susan Wilson Peters (J.C.) of Brookville, Ohio; Great-grandchildren, Sarah E. Bosworth, Madison Gayle Peters, Garrett W. Peters and Elliott J. Peters. A service celebrating the life of Freda Wilson will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Waybright Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. A time of food and fellowship will immediately follow the service at the Parsons-Vail Family Center. Her cremated remains will be interred at Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley, at 1:30p.m. following the reception. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Freda's memory be made to: Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston WV, 25311 or the food pantry at Calvary United Methodist Church.
