Gary Wayne Slater

Gary Wayne Slater, 68, of Sissonville passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at CAMC Memorial Division. He was born October 25, 1951 at Sissonville, a son of the late Nishel and Audrey Phillips Slater. Gary worked as a carpenter for Slater Contracting, a business that he worked with his brother. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as cooking. His soups in particular will be one of his many meals missed. Gary served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his children Melissa Morgan, Crystal Titley (Paul), Larry Slater and Jason Slater (Marie); brothers and sisters Nishel Slater Jr. (Jane), Phyllis Boggess (Nemo), Michael Slater (Rigenia), Tommy Slater, Raymond Slater, Patricia Chatterton, Billy Joe Slater and David Slater; grandchildren Bradley, Matthew Timothy, Logan, Makenzie, Cassidy, Jacob, Army and Christopher Morgan (Chessie) and Hunter Slater; great-grandchildren Josh and Carlie Morgan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5th at the Slater Cemetery, Sissonville.
