Gene D. Nuckles

Gene D. Nuckles, 89 of Ripley, entered into Heaven on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Gene was born January 9, 1935, a son of the late Virgil and Acel Nuckles of Given. He attended Ripley Schools and began working at an early age in the greenhouses, which led to a lifelong interest in gardening.

Gene was a former member of the 812th Army Reserve, Ripley. He worked construction prior to working for Broughton Dairy, retiring after 30 years and receiving a National award for driving over one million miles without an accident.

He had many interests, but his greatest enjoyment was when he was surrounded by his family and dogs.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jo Ann Anderson Nuckles; brothers Ralph Nuckles, Charles Nuckles and Troy Nuckles.

Gene is survived by son Steve Nuckles and daughter Sandy (Joe) Grady; grandchildren Joey (Amber) Grady and Emily (Rex) Grady; great grandchildren Raylynn, Enslee, and Briggs; brother, Roy (Linda) Nuckles.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Lymon Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the A.L. Anderson Family Cemetery, Kenna. Friends may call from 12:30pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
