Geneva Eleanor Coon

Geneva Eleanor (Munday) Coon of Massillon, OH departed this life on March 26, 2019 at the age of 79. She was born on August 8, 1939 to Everett and Mildred (Winters) Munday of Gay, WV. In November 1958 she married Joseph D. Coon with whom she shared over 42 years of marriage until his death in 2001. She was a graduate of Ripley High School in WV with the class of 1957. She retired from Heartland Behavioral Healthcare (the former Massillon Psychiatric Center) in December 2005 after approximately 32 years of service as an Executive Secretary in various departments and also as a Human Resource Specialist. She was a member of the Ripley High School Alumni, The National Parkinson Foundation, and the Massillon Baptist Temple where she attended regularly. She will be remembered for her smile, her patience, and her kindness to all. She was affectionately known as "Tootsie" by her siblings whom she loved and enjoyed spending time with. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet L. Fields. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two beloved sons, Gregory J. (Janet) Coon of Canton, OH and Donald J. "DJ" Coon of Columbus, OH; her two sisters, Carolyn Munday and Connie (David) Moore both of Ripley, WV; her two brothers, Freddie Munday of Gay, WV and Randy (Pam) Munday of Kenna, WV; her brother-in-law, Radus Fields of Ripley, WV; her two granddaughters, and her numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may share memories of her life and visit with her family at the Waybright Funeral Home of Ripley, WV between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019. There will be an additional viewing one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 also at the Waybright Funeral Home and with Pastor Danny Cummings officiating.
