Geraldine Willard, 86, of Charleston, passed away Monday morning, September 8, 2014 at Hubbard House West in South Charleston following an extended illness. She was born January 17, 1928 in Jackson County, daughter of the late Matt and Ora Dell Parsons Rhodes. In addition to being a wife and mother, Geraldine worked for many years as a certified nurses' aid and later worked for over a decade as a school custodian in Kanawha County. Prior to her illness she attended the Temple Baptist Church in Charleston. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Willard, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving: Sons, George F. Willard Jr. (Kathryn) of Ravenswood, Gary E. Willard of Charleston and Michael E. Willard, also of Charleston; Grandchildren, George F. Willard III (Kathleen) of Knoxville, TN, and Bryan Lee Willard of Summersville; Great-grandchildren, Emma, David and Arianna Willard; Brother, Denzil Rhodes (Janet) of Ripley; Sister-in-law, Hazel Fleming of Ripley. A service celebrating the life of Geraldine Willard will be 11a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Larry Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service at Fairplain Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Thursday.
