Glen "Piggy" Miller

Glenn D. "Piggy" Miller 81 of Goldtown passed away June 23, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He was born August 8, 1933 at Goldtown a son of the late Dempsey I. and Pearl O'Conner Miller. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother James R. Miller and sister Reba Ray Sayre. He is survived by a daughter Melinda Ferrell and husband Charles of St. Albans; three granddaughters Rebecca, Megan and Grace Ferrell all of St. Albans; sisters Faye Brown of Clendenin and Jo Chenoweth of Goldtown; six nieces and one nephew and special friend and caregiver, Tootie Pritt. Glenn was a 1952 graduate of Ripley High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a Merchant Marine Seaman belonging to the Seafarers International Union. He retired in 1991. Glenn was a Christian and attended Fisher Memorial Church at Goldtown. He was a member of VFW Post 5501 in Ripley and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1444 of Charleston. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Butch Crowder, Marvin and Eileen Faber, Jessica Parsons, Tootie Pritt, and Dave Stump for their exceptional care. Funeral services will be held at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Aaron Finney officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery at Goldtown.
