Harry "Bud" Hysell Jr., 92, of St. Mary's, passed away Wednesday evening, August 6, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center following an extended illness. Bud was born November 14, 1921 at Ripley, son of the late Harry and Dixie Kerwood Hysell. He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School where he played football as a defensive back (Jersey number 10) and managed the basketball team. He was a Navy veteran of WW-II and retired from the State of West Virginia as a surveyor. Bud was actively involved in the survey of what would become I-77. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Lee Walker. Surviving: His wife of 29 years, Carol Hysell of St. Marys; Step-son, Eric Shingleton of St. Marys; Step-grandchildren, Bryson and Luke Shingleton of St. Marys; Nephews, Bill Walker (Lynn) of Huntington and Mike Walker (Diana) of Kokomo, Indiana; Niece, Dixie Lambert (Ronald) of Worthington, Ohio. A celebration of the life of Harry "Bud" Hysell will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Interment will follow the service at Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.
