Harry Karl Welling

Harry Karl Welling, 88, of Ripley passed away August 20, 2025.

He was born December 4, 1936 in Tyler County, WV and was raised in Given, WV. He was a devoted husband and loving father.

He retired after 36 years of service from Constellium, formerly Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his family and faith, attending Abundant Life Church of Ravenswood for several years. He was a man of faith, kindness, integrity and generosity. A man of God who carried his Bible close and never missed an opportunity to share the Word or offer heartfelt prayer. Whether it was feeding a stranger, lending a helping hand or offering words of wisdom, Karl lived to serve others and embody the love of Jesus Christ.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Clara (Lathey) Welling; brothers Charles and Troy Welling, died in infancy; brother and sister-in-law Dale and Connie (Adkins) Welling; sister Maxine Eagle (Gary) and sister-in-law Carole Welling (Donald). He now joins them in eternal peace.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ida (Whetzel) Welling; daughters Kimberly Moore (Peter) and Katherine Randolph (Neil). He was a proud grandfather to Kevin Southall, Brigit O’Neal (Derek), Matthew Randolph (Kaitlyn) and Valerie Guyer (Takoda); great-grandchildren Jaxon O’Neal, Archer O’Neal, Maddie Randolph, Kyleigh Randolph and Fletcher Guyer—brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Carolyn Chancey (Bob), Yvonne Johnson (Gary), Donald Welling, Larry Welling (Connie), Helen Fisher (Gene), Linda Warner, Debra Brabham (David); brother-in-law Gary Eagle (Maxine) and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his generous spirit, Karl graciously donated his body to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for medical research and education. A celebration of Karl’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Abundant Life Church, 90 Violet Drive, Ravenswood, WV 26164.
