Helen Griffith Ison

On December 24, Helen Griffith Ison's earthly journey ended as she ascended to her heavenly home where she was greeted by her parents, Francis and Emma Ball along with other loved ones who preceded her in death. Her journey started in Leroy, WV and ended in Ripley, WV. Along her journey she married her high school sweetheart, Camden, and together they raised Sandra (John) Moore, Cameron (Lynn) Griffith, Elizabeth Cash, Rebecca (Paul) Griffith, Teresa Griffith and Rodney (Linda) Griffith. Her lifetime was devoted to God and family. Among her many adventures she worked several jobs, owned her own Cake decorating business, wrote a weekly news column and served the community by volunteering. Her most treasured moments were with her children, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Her family also included a special cousin, Don (Aliceann) Brown, a sister-in-law, Ann Brode, and a brother-in-law Paul (Judy) Griffith. You may honor her legacy in lieu of flowers by donating to Grace Gospel Church or Community Food Pantry of Ripley or Jackson General Ladies Auxiliary. The final celebration of her life will be held at 10am Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Waybright Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends there Friday from 6pm to 8pm or 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
