Helen Dorrine Myers

Helen Dorrine Myers (formerly Stewart, Boggs) of Ripley, WV, age 86, passed away on December 5th, 2023, following an extended illness.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Brigitte E. Lowe (John); four grandchildren who affectionately called her “Nan-Nan”, Jacob Boggs, Daniel Boggs, Laura Boggs Tyson, and Alex Lowe; her loving brother Jack Stewart (her last surviving sibling) and wife Jeanette; three great grandchildren and nieces and nephews in several states.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Myers of Ripley; former husband Harvey Boggs and their son Col. Laurence Harvey “Larry” Boggs of Spencer.

Helen was born September 25, 1937 in Reedy, WV, to parents Lula Ernestine and Harry Stewart. Helen was blessed with six siblings: Eugene Hornbeck, Virginia Claypool, William Noland, Jack Stewart, Warren Noland, and Harley Stewart.

Helen worked hard over the years on the family farms and family small business endeavors in Roane County. She was also a teacher’s aide at the elementary school and worked for several years at the Traders Bank in Spencer. She often shared that one of the highlights of working at the bank was meeting JFK when he visited Spencer.

Helen was a beautiful lady who deeply loved and treasured her family and friends; she will be sorely missed. The family is especially grateful to the professionals at the Ravenswood Care Center for their care and support of Helen during her time of need.

The funeral service for Helen will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at the Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, WV at 2 p.m. with Reverend Herman Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at the Spencer Memorial Cemetery in Spencer, WV.
