Herbert "Harold" Koon

Herbert “Harold” Koon, 63, of Ripley went home to the Lord on September 5, 2024 at home surrounded by loved ones following a short illness.

Harold was born March 11, 1961 in Upshur County, WV a son of the late John and Madgeline (Comer) Koon.

Harold loved to farm, hunt and spend time outdoors. He was like a father to many especially his sisters-in-laws Teresa Fields, Diane Casto, Tammy Kessel and Mary Bowman; son in law David Bowman and very special friend, Steve Casto. He was loved and known by many and will be missed dearly.

Harold is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra Koon; sister Sharon Steving of Albuquerque, NM and uncle and aunt Rick and Pam Burgess of Youngstown, OH.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by stepfather Rev. Charlie Payne, great-nepehw Wyatt Akers and grandparents Harold and Ruby Burgess and Herbert and Lula Koon.

Funeral service will be 12 p.m., Tuesday, September 10th at Waybright Funreal Home, Ripley with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
