Homer Franklin Stamper

Homer Franklin Stamper, 86 of Ripley passed away July 21, 2014 at Charleston Memorial Hospital. He was born December 11, 1927 at Morehead, KY a son of the late James and Golda Boyd Stamper. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran of World War II where he served for four years and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sargent. He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and retired from Century Aluminum Company with 30 years of service. Prior to his time there he was a Coal Miner in Logan County. He loved all types of gardening and was known as a man who could fix anything from his workshop. He especially enjoyed working on engines and making them run properly. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Cora Lee Stamper. He is survived by daughters Debra Paxton and her husband Tom of Ripley, Denise Thomas and her husband Greg of Ripley, Regina Cummings and her husband Lanny of Kenna and son Bradlee Stamper and his wife Martha of Long Grove, IL; brothers Troy Stamper of Huntington and Clinton Stamper of Logan; sister Claoma "Sissy" Stamper; grandchildren David (Jennifer) Paxton and Jason (Jenny) Paxton, Stephanie Thomas, Andrea (Joe) Wigal, Kelly (Hamilton) Rake, Addison and Tyler Stamper and great grandchildren Toby and Ethan Fry, Garrison Wigal, Elaina and Aubrielle Rake. Funeral Service will be 11 am Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Teresa Deane officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.
