Ida Palmer Memorial Service

Ida Sweeney Palmer, 76, of Windy Ridge, Sandyville, WV died suddenly on January 16, 2016 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston after a short illness. She was born on October 16, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late John and Anna McCallister Sweeney. Ida was a graduate of Wirt County High School with the Class of 1958. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Ripley Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul Palmer who lives on the family farm where they made their home; children Lois Palmer and Mark (Cheryl) Palmer both of Mt. Airy, NC; son-in-law Darian Pilkenton of Granite Falls, NC; grandchildren Shandi Ghee, Kerri (Kenneth) Thompson, Kristen (Alex) Smith, Abigail Johnson and Niki Palmer; great grandchildren Gabriel Sears and Amie Thompson; sisters Marie Francis, Rosalie Harkins and Roberta (Bill) Ross; brother John (Shirley) Sweeney; brothers-in-law Dale (Bonnie) Palmer and Charles Palmer; sisters-in-law Dortha Palmer, Jean Fauss and Faye Palmer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two children, Matthew Palmer and Amy Pilkenton; brother Harry Sweeney; and nephew Kelle Sadler and several brothers and sisters-in-law. At her request, she was cremated with no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Brother Jerry Jones presiding. Committal Service will follow at the Pisgah Cemetery, Pee Wee, Wirt County. At 4:00 pm, and following the committal service, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Parsons-Vail Family Center located inside the Waybright Funeral Home. If you are unable to be at the service, the family would welcome you to join them during the time of fellowship at the funeral home. Ida requested that for those who can attend, please wear purple as it was her favorite color.
