Ila Mae Hudnall

April 11, 1931 — August 2, 2016

Ila Mae Hudnall, 85, of Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Ripley, passed away peacefully with Fredrick W. Hudnall, her loving husband of 52 years, at her side, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 after a courageous two-year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born April 15, 1931 in the small coal camp of Lochgelly, a daughter of the late Sam and Anna Patrick. She was the youngest of 10 children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Phillip, Chris, Alex, Charlie and Mike, and sisters, Josie, Stella, Julie and Annie. In addition to her husband, Fredrick, she is survived by her sons, Larry Grzyb and his wife, Rhonda, of Raleigh, N.C., Steve Grzyb Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., and Patrick Hudnall of Ripley, and daughters, Judy Judge and her husband, Paul, of Hilton Head, S.C., Lisa Orecchio and husband, Tony, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Andrea "Pinky" Hudnall of Ripley. She also has 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ila was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. For many years she was the program director for WOAY radio in Oak Hill, and retired after working 12 years for Phil's Pharmacy in Ripley. In addition to having a heart for animals, she was a lover of music and enjoyed dancing. Her welcoming smile, loving arms and spunky independent spirit will be missed. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Glasgow. The family will be receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley.
