Iris May Shaffer

May 28, 1939 — September 16, 2022

Iris Shaffer, 83 of Ripley went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2022 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Hospice Unit following a sudden illness.

She was born May 28, 1939 in Roane County, daughter of the late Dennis and Iva Hay Parsons. She was a Christian by faith and retired from the United States Post Office in Elkview. Iris was a member of the gospel group The Shaffer Sisters for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Waldo Parsons; sisters Marie White, Rosalie Payne, Wavie Randolph, and Audrey Nichols.

She is survived by her daughters, Angela (Jim) Beighle, Drema Smith and Lisa Nichols; brother Kenneth Parsons; sisters Jean Cox, Ferabelle Taylor and Marlene Shaffer; also survived by grandchildren Felicia McCoy, Aaron Beighle, Cheyenne Smith, Danielle Sams and Chasity Dye; great-grandchildren Dakotah, Alex and Waylon McCoy, Penelope and Sawyer Smith and Garrison and Londyn Dye.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the Goshen Cemetery, Kentuck with Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery, Kentuck.
