James Carney Abshire

James Carney Abshire, 85 of Ripley passed away at his home on September 13, 2015 following a long illness. He was born July 4, 1930 at Drawdy, Boone County, WV, a son of the late Holley and Verna Halstead Abshire. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum where he worked in Casting with over 31 years of service. He was a dedicated member of the West Ripley Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Ann Abshire; daughter Vicki Payne and sister Helen Hager. He is survived by his son James Abshire Jr. and his wife Beth; daughters Karen Anderson and husband Ronnie and Teresa Miller and husband Joe; sisters Phyllis Gunnoe, Brenda Thompson and brother Marlin Abshire and his wife Anna. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at eh Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Minister Doug Petty officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.
