James W. "Jim" Groves Jr., 82, of Sandyville, passed away Monday morning at Eldercare of Ripley following an extended illness. He was born February 15, 1932 in Roane County, son of the late James W. and Goldie Elswick Groves. He retired from the scalping department of Ravenswood Aluminum following over three decades of service, loved the outdoors and loved helping his wife in her business, Rita's Antiques. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Surviving: His wife of 56 years, Reta Campbell Groves; Son, Rodney Lee Groves (Robin) of Sandyville; Grandchildren, Brittney Groves, Rodney James Groves and Bridget Groves Fulk; Sisters, Willadeen Payne of Walton and Sherry Smith of Clendenin. A service celebrating the life of Jim Groves will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home with Ron Arthur officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Koontz Cemetery in Clendenin.
