James "Jimbo" Douglas Carney

James “Jimbo” Douglas Carney, 75, of Ripley passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Hubbard Hospice West in South Charleston.

Jim was born October 19, 1949 at Charleston, a son of the late James Delmer and Lona May (Fisher) Carney.

Jim retired from Bank One of Charleston after 14 years of service as a maintenance engineer. He loved playing and entertaining people with gospel music. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, cars and spending time with his loyal wiener dog, Miss Fannie.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lucille (Flesher) Carney; sister Jeanie Marie Phillips, and 8 nieces and nephews among numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by a sister Toni Lynn Carney.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13th at Waybright Funeral Home with Scotty Elswick and David Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley with a meal following at Waybright Funeral Homes family center.
