Jane Carolyn Thompson

Jane Carolyn Thompson passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 10, 2016, at the Eldercare nursing facility in Ripley, West Virginia after a brief battle with cancer. She was born December 3, 1945, in Bluefield, West Virginia and resided in Charleston, West Virginia for many years. She was a member of the congregation at Ruffner Presbyterian Church in Charleston and loved singing in the choir but spent the last few years of her life in Ripley, West Virginia in an assisted living facility, a private care home and at Eldercare. She was a Christian and looked forward to spending eternity with Jesus and with her mom and dad. Jane graduated from Dunbar High School in 1964 and later from the Vocational Rehabilitation Center at Institute, West Virginia. She clerked at the Social Security Administration in Charleston for 35 years until her retirement in 1999. Jane was predeceased by her father and mother, Brentz F. and Marylin Faith (Bailey) Thompson. She is survived by her uncle and aunt, James and Helen Thompson of Middletown, Pennsylvania; her aunt Betty Thompson of St. Albans, West Virginia; sister Linda C. Thompson of Ypsilanti, Michigan; brother Brentz H. Thompson of Lewisburg, West Virginia; niece Elizabeth Franke of Reno, Nevada; nephew Ronan P. Dalcross of Dunwoody, Georgia; and several cousins. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Ruffner Presbyterian Church on October 21, 2016 at 1:30 p.m., preceded by a time of visitation at 1:00 p.m. Thanks go to the Eldercare staff for their caring service from May 2016 until her passing; to Mrs. Georgia Moore of Ripley, who went above and beyond the call of duty from 2015 until Jane’s transfer to Eldercare; and to the wonderful and sweet doctors, nurses and therapists at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio just weeks before her passing.
