Janet Marie Ball

Janet Marie Ball (Granny), 78, Born October 1, 1939 of Parchment Valley peacefully departed this life and woke in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior at home on February 18, 2018 after battling a long illness. Janet is survived by her unbelievably loving sons, Chuck (Sharon) Kestner of Pond Creek, Loren (Darlene) Kestner of Alum Creek, Dale (Debbie) Kestner of Cottageville and Michael (Michelle) Kestner of Ripley; her grandchildren that were her prized treasures, Latrica Kestner, Christi Kestner, Misty Webb, Alisha Clark, David Kestner, Christopher Kestner, Mara Bailey, Dale Kestner and Richard Kestner; her great grandchildren that she considered to be the best things in her life, Airiana, Katelyn, Brianna, Kayden, Zander, McKenzie, Khloe, Grayson, William, Dale and Abigail; as well as her amazing sister Imogene Knuckles of Wheeling and countless nieces and nephews. Janet never met a stranger and people knew her when she owned the “City”, the many years she worked at Best Western or her time at Parchment Valley Baptist Center. Although, if you grew up reading the Parchment Valley News in the local paper, you knew she was a Star and you could always see her sitting out on her porch on any warm day waving at any and every car that went up the street. Janet was a friend of all friends and once you got to know her you were a friend for life; one that she could spend hours talking to on the phone. She was an avid reader and her family’s favorite poet. Janet had many stories and memories that she loved to share anytime she got the chance, and everything always led back to her family. Janet always said that she had people that were jealous of the way her boys loved her. Her boys were what she was most proud of and they did her proud all the way to the very end. Janet lived a life that most of us hope to live and we were the lucky ones that got to spend it with her. No amount of words are enough to describe just how amazing this daughter, sister, mother and Granny was or how important she has been to everyone. So here we are holding on to your promise…Until we meet again. Please join her family to celebrate her life at the Waybright Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24, 2018 where a time of visitation with the family will be from 12:00 pm (Noon) until 2:00 pm. A memorial service will start at 2:00 pm following the visitation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in memory of Janet to the Jackson County Library, 208 Church Street N, Ripley, WV 25271.
