Janet Evene "Eve" Burdette

Janet Evene “Eve” Burdette, 76, of Kenna went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 following a short illness. She was born December 7, 1941 at Charleston a daughter of the late Vinton and Mabel Foster Slater. Eve will be remembered as a hard worker who enjoyed working around her house and yard and going to Pleasant View Methodist Church where she quilted and cooked with all her friends. She was an avid sewer who made clothes as well as many items around the house. She was also a founder of the Burdette General Store. Most of all she will be remembered as a loving person to all her friends and family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold Burdette; a sister, Isabelle Rust and brothers Elvin, Ray, Darrel, and Edward Slater. She is survived by sisters, Christine McConaha of Dunbar and Roberta Kintz (Earl) of Rochester, NY; Stepdaughter Patty Monk (Charles) of Ripley; step-grandchildren Cathy Kirk of Melbourne, FL and Scott Blankenship of Nitro; step great-grandchildren Ramsie Monk of Ripley and Wyatt Kirk of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 7th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor David Spencer officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Burdette Cemetery, Romance. In lieu of flowers donation can be made in Eve’s memory to the American Heart Association.
