Janice Lee Abels

Janice Lee Abels, 62, of Gay passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

Janice was born December 20, 1963 in Ripley, WV a daughter of the late Jerry and Linda (Casto) Rhodes.

Janice is survived by her children J.R. Abels (Nikki), Jeremy Abels and Amanda Vannest; siblings Cindy Casto, James Rhodes and Connie Rhodes; grandchildren Austin Ryan Vannest, Kimber Lee Abels and Jaxon Derek Smith; half siblings Jerry David Rhodes and Jessica Rhodes and her companion, Ronnie Harper. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Janice loved spending time with her family and was a lover of animals, including her dog Rocky, the stray cats she would take care of and the turkey and deer she always kept fed. She also enjoyed spending time on her front porch and enjoying a conversation with whoever would stop by.
