Delores Jean Riley, 94, of Ripley, W.V., went to be with her Lord and savior on January 6th, 2026, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 4, 1931, in Beards Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Ralph W. and Edith M. Taylor.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James P. Riley, Jr.; brothers, Ralph Taylor, Norman Taylor, and Stanley Taylor; and sisters, Kathryn Brown, Helen Lilly, Margaret Taylor, Brenda Kincaid, and Diana Reese.
She is survived by her son James Riley (Dinah), Ripley, WV; daughters, Patricia Bungard (Sam), Marietta, OH, and Beverly Riley, Ripley, WV; brother-in-law, Jimmy Reese; sister-in-law, Inis Chaffin; grandchildren, J.P. Riley (Christine), Andrew Riley, Scott Bungard (Kym), Coy Boggs, Kate Sleboda, Chuck Sleboda, and Michael Sleboda; 6 great-grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jean was known to many as a “Jack of all trades” and had many accomplishments including being a self-taught pianist, published author, and artist just to name a few. She was also a member and the last living charter member of the Ripley Church of Christ. Jean will be remembered as a faithful Christian, a beloved mother and friend, and she will be missed dearly.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at 1p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be minister Keenan Gooseman with burial to follow in the Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville, W.V.
