On Sunday, January 5, 2025 another sweet soul entered the gates of Heaven. Jean Audrey Tygrett, 96, of Ripley, finished her course here on earth, and joined her loved ones who have gone on before her. Born on December 6, 1928, on Beauty Mountain in Fayette County, West Virginia, Jean was the daughter of the late C.P. and Elizabeth Morrison, the family later moved to Edmond, where Jean grew up and attended Nuttall High School. Upon graduation, she was employed by the C & P Telephone company in Fayetteville. She later met, and married Tommy E. Tygrett. They were married for 67 years prior to his passing in 2016. Jean was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she served in the Chancel Choir for many years. She was also an active member in the ladies circles. She lived a life of service, whether it was in her church, or as a member of the GFWC. She participated in many community activities as part of the Woman's Club. Jean retired from Ravenswood Aluminum, formerly Kaiser Aluminum, as a switchboard operator, then as a secretary. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Carl and Jerril Morrison, sister Margie Tygrett, and granddaughter Jennifer Tygrett. Surviving Family members are Brother Gary Morrison of North Carolina, Sisters Norma McVey, Karen Dunn and Marge Vaadi of Florida, and Gaytha Drabenstott of Ohio, Sons Tom Tygrett (Gwen) of Barboursville, Steve Tygrett (Kathy) of Evans, Rich Tygrett (Kelly) of Leonardtown, Maryland, and Daughter Debbie Armstead (Rick) of Chesterfield, Virginia. Grandchildren Brandon Armstead, Sarah Bordeaux, Justin Armstead, and Melissa Woodson, all of Virginia, Stephanie Zetts of Colorado, Megan Ray of Barboursville, Lauren Murphy and Lindsay Nardo of Maryland. Jean's great-Grandchildren are Kaylee Armstead, Ryleigh Bordeaux, Mason Armstead, Chase Woodson and Cole Woodson , all of Virginia, Nora Murphy, Hailey and Heidi Nardo of Maryland Ava, Addie, and Parker Ray of Barboursville, and Peter Zetts of Colorado.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 15th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Kelly Snyder officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.
