Jerry M. “Whitey” White, 80 of Given, passed away March 16, 2022 at his home following a long illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 11, 1941 in Jackson County, a son of the late James A. and Ethel Crane White. Jerry was 1960 graduate of Ripley High School. He would work for the Operating Engineers Local 132 and Kem Gas/EXCO before he would retire. Jerry was a very loyal and dedicated member of the Southern Jackson County Volunteer Fire Department where he served as President with 28 years of service. He also enjoyed old cars, racing, hunting and camping. Along with Whitey he also earned the nicknames of the carburetor man and Sparky for innovative way to include spark plugs in his practical jokes. He is survived by his daughters, Julia (Nemo) Boggess and Pam (Randy) Munday; sisters Joyce (Alvia) Barnett and Betty Monday; grandchildren, Ashley Ratliff (John), Dustin Hinzman (Becky), Brittany Munday, Brandi Moore (Vlad); great grandchildren Mykenzie Hinzman, Maverick Hinzman, Maxim Hinzman, Gavon Hamon and Greyson Ratliff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Agnes White; a brother, David White and a great grandson, Marshall Wyatt Hinzman. The family would like to send a special thank you to Jerry’s caretakers Tammy Parsons and Dee Jones. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20th at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Luke Cales officiating. Burial will be in the Casto-Crane Cemetery, Fairplain.
