Jimmy Hershel Fisher, 84 of Evans, went to his Heavenly Home to be with Jesus January 3, 2024 after a long struggle with COPD and Cancer at the last. Hershel was at his home surrounded by his wife of 53 ½ years and his family.
Hershel was born November 6, 1939 in Sissonville, where he was a lifelong resident until he and his wife, Carol moved to the Evans area. He was the oldest son of the late Shirley and Beulah Fields Fisher. He was also the son-in-law of the late G.A. and Virginia King Jackson. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Hershel was a retired construction worker, building houses and laying block and brick. He loved to raise a big garden and he also loved to hunt and fish and watch football on TV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Arbutus “Sis” Lowe and Connie Sue Fultz; brothers-in-law Warren Wolfe and Greg Jackson; sisters-in-law Debbie (Jackson) Combs and Kella Jackson; nephews Michael and Scott Fisher. Also preceding him was his special cat, Bubba and a very dear and special lifelong best friend and brother in heart, Manford Tolley both of which he missed very much.
Hershel leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Carol Jackson Fisher; daughter Daphne and Roger Wines, son Jeff and Kelli Fisher: two grandchildren, who were the light of his world to him, Samantha Fisher and Logan Wines; step granddaughter Courtney and Chris Featherson and boys, Alex and Adam; sister, Jane Wolfe of Cottageville and brother Paul “Bud” and Sharon Fisher of Nitro.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Hershel’s cousin Bobby Jones and dear family friend Darren Persinger officiating. Burial will be in the Fisher Family Cemetery, Sissonville. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 am until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
